In fast-moving shipping environments, clarity and accountability are key. Postsale’s Audit records give your team visibility into changes made to your orders. Whether it’s a change to the order's status, an address update, a note added to an order, or other changes, Postsale's audit logs give a clear record of the changes so that you can easily resolve discrepancies and accurately manage your orders.

This article will walk you through accessing the Postsale's order audit logs and how to read them. Learn more about shipment and label audit records here.

Access The Audit Logs

Procedure: Settings > Account Settings

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Select Account Settings.

  1. Select Audit from the list of available options.

Audit is being selected from the list of available options in the account settings menu.

The available audit records are listed for you.

A list of available audit records is shown.

About the Audit Logs

Here are a few helpful details about the list of available audit logs:

  • Order, and label-related logs are available in the list.
    • Order logs are listed in the Type column beginning with order_, such as order_status_changed, etc.
    • Shipment logs are listed in the Type column beginning with shipment_, such as shipment_updated, etc.
    • Label logs are listed in the Type column beginning with label_, such as label_created, etc.
  • Logs are listed in reverse chronological order by Date and Time.
  • The previous 30 days of logs are available. Log records older than 30 days are removed from the Audit page and are purged from our system.

Read the Order Logs

Locate the order log you wish to view, then click it to select it.

An order log has been selected in the list of available logs.

Locate Order Logs

Do you know the date that updates were made to the order in question? Scroll down to the order audit logs that list that date in the Date column. This may help to quickly focus on a specific record.

When you select a log, the Audit Log Details are displayed.

A log is selected and the log details are displayed.

At the top of the Audit Log Details, you'll see the following information listed:

  • The log ID
  • The user who made the change to the shipment
  • The Event Type. The type helps to identify what occurred. For example, order_status_changed clearly identifies that the log is related to the status of an order changing, order_updated indicates that a change was made to the order, and so on.
  • The Event Date. This is the date/time stamp indicating when the event occurred and the log was created.

The audit log details are listed.

Below this information, you'll find the information about the specific change or update made to the order.

The great thing is that only the audit record lines related to the update or change are shown, making it easy to identify the exact details of the update.

Take a look at the image below. In addition to the timestamp indicating when the change occurred, we can see that the order's status was changed from Awaiting Shipment to Ready to Ship.

Note that red indicates the deleted value while green indicates the updated value. For example, the red “status” in the image indicates the deleted value, and the green “status” indicates the new value.

The audit record shows that the order's status was changed.

View More Log Information

Need to view more information within the log? Click any row showing a number of unchanged lines to expand and view the full details for that section.

For example, clicking on 11 unchanged lines would expand all of those lines so that they're visible.

11 unchanged lines is hovered over in the log.
